Initiation and Development of the Faculty
The faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technology was established in 2006, after the decision of upgrading the Faculty of Technology to the University of Science and Technology, was issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in September 2006. The academic programs of the newly born faculty were: Bachelor of Computer Sciences, Bachelor of Information Technology and Information Technology Diploma all of which were among the founding programs of the Faculty of Technology.
The establishment of the Bachelor of Computer Sciences and Information Technology dates back to 1995, as the first academic programs in the Faculty of Technology, established in the same year, and the establishment of the Bachelor of Information Technology dates back to 2005.
The Bachelor of Information Technology was established in the year 2005 and the first batch of students graduated in 2009. As well, the Diploma in Network Systems program was initiated in 2006.
The approval for the initiation of two programs, the Bachelor of Information Technology and Communication and the Bachelor of Information Systems was granted in the year 2009 and the first batch for the former program was admitted in the Academic year 2009-2010 and for the latter program in the year 2011-2012.
The faculty paid attention to higher studies also. The first batch for the Master of Science in computer sciences was admitted in 2008, followed by Master of Science in Information Systems in 2010, and then Master of Science in Information Technology in 2014 and finally Mater of Science in Information Security in 2016 and all were programs of Master by courses and supplementary research.
Since that date, the faculty continued to be one of the pioneer faculties in computer studies in Sudan and contributed in the graduation of thousands of students in the different fields of computer studies.
